I was given this book as a gift right before I left on my honeymoon. As a result, we had a week that was planned and filled every day with exactly what we were wanting, along with perfect directions to get there. My favorite tidbit from the book got us to a scary rope swing that dropped you off into a beautiful pool of water. To get back out, you climb the roots of a Banyan tree. I have given this book as a gift several times, and it's so easy to navigate and find what you want.

Bought this just before our trip December 2008. Overall an excellent guide to the island. Points out things not to miss, including out-of-the-way treasures, and what to avoid. Good maps and organization. We kept it in the car with us as we explored the island.

Why I love this book and was so glad I had it for my first visit to Kauiai:
1. Very well organized
2. Pointed out spots that were off the beaten path and well
worth the adventure!
3. The authors give their personal opinion and insights. This makes it
feel like I'm traveling with an island resident. Even when I
disagreed with their opinions I still found the book to be helpful.
4. This book is about the island not the commercial trappings - including ~
- Wonderful places to snorkel
- Beautiful gardens that feature native plants
- A waterfall that has a tiny muddy foot path with
over grown plants
- The culture of the one lane bridges
5. The maps were great and more informative/accurate than the map I had bought.

The Kauai Blue Bible!

My wife and I went to Kauai for our honeymoon in October 2008. We had this book for several months before our trip, brought it with us to Kauai, and carried it wherever we went. It is PERFECT. The locals on Kauai referred to the book as "The Blue Bible," with good reason.
Anywhere you can go on Kauai - by foot, car, or boat - is in this book. It even includes local hunting trails on easy to read maps. Honest, invaluable recommendations for excursions, restaurants, beaches, sightseeing, hotels, all in one paperback book.
Be sure to follow its advice regarding the must-sees and the "Real Gems". With this book, my wife and I had the perfect honeymoon.
If you are going to Kauai, you simply must buy this book.

There is nothing bad to say about this book. If you are heading to Kauai and want to make the most out of your trip, you have to buy this book. Details about every aspect of the island, including beaches, activities, adventures, hotels, restaurants, etc. Without this book you would miss so much. Just use the book to plan your whole trip. The other islands editions are just as good. Love it!
