a great anime, one of the classics...but only if you like comedy!

Truly one of my all time favorites! I recomend ti to all anime lovers. it's comedy, but without all of that over-stylized animation or cheap, over used gags.
A great combination of action, adventure and comedy, this series made me laugh out loud, and at other times touched me very deeply. that's what Slayers does best, combine comedy and adventure with real life trials and lessons people learn as they live. it made me laugh, and yet also made me feel better about life. A real solid plot, and characters that are fully fleshed out; a hyperactive sorceress with a temper that blows things up, literally! a strong hansome warrior...who's also the dumbest blond you'll ever meet! a princess who want to be a hero, a once-human chimera who tries to take life seriously...But his companions keep getting in the way. And new to the group: a mysterious demon, who just can't get enough of pulling practical jokes on the gang! and another newbie...an aristocractic girl who want to conuqer the world with the help of her imaginary monster!

Better then the original SLAYERS series, but still wanting.

Again, Lina and Gourry set off into the violent and bizarre world only to get entangled in a convoluted and lengthy battle with demons. Secondary characters join the group like moths to a flame, and soon the series is again inundated with dead weight. Better animation, plots, and dialogue then in the original series. The characters seem to loose reason through the series, and Lina's love for Gourry becomes something rather oddly placed in the final episodes. Xellos, the mysterious stranger, is a great character and lends a good dynamic to the group. Again, I bought each tape, watched it once and put it on a shelf. Lisa Ortiz' voice is annoying and whiney, not to mention having a narrow range of emotion. The packaging is fairly amaturish. Don't be mistaken by my words, these are entertaining episodes aside from their rather short lived value, and I still will buy the next series Slayers Try. Hopefully it will be a little better then this one as this was a little better then the first. Fans of the finer anime should avoid this series, but kids and animation nuts will probably really enjoy the whole kit-n-kaboodle.

Funny, scary, mysterious, action packed, well done! If you love fantasy then you'll love The Slayers! I've seen alot of Anime( I MEAN ALOT) and this is my favorite! Aside from the awesome plot and characters, the Spells and action are exceptional!
